How to transfer bitcoin from Coinbase to Ledger Nano S hardware wallet

hey what's going on guys welcome back today we're going to talk about how to move your Bitcoin in and out of your Coinbase account from your Ledger Nano S hardware wallet yep still wearing the same shirt the AC's out in this part of my house so I'm like sweating I'm like how can I do this video quick enough so that you don't see me just drenching with sweat look like airplane like when he's piloting the plane yeah nobody wants to see that it so I say it all the time but I'm a huge fan of hardware wallets I think they're a great thing that people need to be using to secure their Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but being able to use them effectively means that you have to be able to know how to move your Bitcoin in and out of your major exchange accounts so Coinbase is one of the major US exchanges and Ledger Nano S is one of the more popular hardware wallets so let's see how they work together and so let's start with the steps but moving your bitcoin off of your Coinbase account onto your Ledger Nano S hardware wallet so as you guys can see this is super easy it only takes a couple steps and so let's just jump right into it so the first thing you need to do is open up your Ledger wallet app on your computer so once you open up the application it tells you to connect your Ledger Nano S unlock it to open the application so that's what we're gonna do I'm strange so once you plug in your Ledger Nano S it'll boot up and ask you to enter your PIN so once you have your device unlocked enter into the Bitcoin app so if you go back to your desktop you can see that the wallet opens up so in order to get your receiving address all you have to do is go to the receive tab on the receive tab it asks you to display the address on device click on that and you'll get your QR code as well as the address on your device so you want to confirm that the address you see on your device it's the same one that you see on the screen so now that you know that's good open up your Coinbase app so once you get in your Coinbase app click on the account that you want to send funds from and click on the send button and so the first thing it asks is the amount that you want to send in this case we'll send half to continue so here's where you need to put the recieving address or where you want to send your bitcoin this is the whole reason why we pulled up that QR code so now I have to do sit the QR code button and it brings up the camera then you can point the camera at the QR code on your screen so as you can see it populated the receiving account with the QR code that you had on the screen and at this point you're ready to send so hit the send button again so once you get send it gives you the information again including fees and the address and ask you to confirm so once you hit the confirm button you can see you have a pending transaction in your Coinbase account and now if you go back to your Ledger Nano S wallet and hit refresh you'll see that you have a pending transaction coming in so that's all it takes to be able to move money off your Coinbase account onto your Ledger Nano S and so what if you want to send to your Coinbase account from your hardware wallet you're basically do the exact opposite transaction and we'll go through it real quick so the first thing you need to do is get your receive address from your Coinbase account so if you look back at your Coinbase account you can see that there's a QR code button at the top right so once you press that button it gives you a disclaimer of only being able to spend BTC to this address and then a button to show the address and that's your QR code for your Coinbase account so if you go back to your Ledger Nano S what you want to do is click on the send tab you can click on the amount that you want to send in our case we're gonna send a very small amount and in terms of the recipient address what you can do is click the camera button down here and use your webcam or your computer to scan your QR code no I'll take this off because I'm old-school still hold up the QR code to your webcam and as you can see it populates the recipient address with the QR code that you provided it from your corn-based account so you can update the transaction fees if you want I'm going to keep everything normal it tells you the total and you hit Send it verifies the transaction and then asks you to confirm the transaction on your hardware wallet so it gives you the information and the address that you're sending to as well as the amount and when you're ready hit confirm once you confirm it says that the sending succeeded and if we refresh you can see that we have a new transaction and then when we look in our coin based account you can see that we have a new pending transaction so that's it that's all it takes to be able to move bitcoin on and off of your Coinbase account from your Ledger Nano S super easy to do if you have any questions let me know down in the comments hope
